Her career in journalism began with Myrtle Beach South Carolina as an anchor and news reporter at WPDE-TV. She then worked as a morning reporter and anchor at WCBD TV. In Charleston O'Dell's stories regarding the police's lenient approach towards DUI cases caused a State Law Enforcement Division investigation that resulted in state authorities re-issuing an even more strict directive on the instances. In the year 2000, Associated Press awarded Ms. O'Dell with the Best Report of the year Award to every aspect of South Carolina media. O'Dell, after her stint in Charleston working as a journalist and co-anchor at NBC's Miami WTVJ-TV station prior to moving to Access Hollywood where she is now a correspondent and co-anchor during weekends. O'Dell in addition to being the lead anchor for Access Hollywood, also appears on NBC News Today as well Dateline NBC. She has covered such events like The Oscars The Emmys The Grammys and The Golden Globe Awards as well as co-hosting a number of shows that were pre-showarrivals for The Emmys and the Golden Globes. Co-hosted also The Miss USA pageant as well as the Miss USA pageant and the Miss Universe pageant.
